Greg and his daughter, Dona, came down from NYC this weekend. I've been so swamped with work that I haven't been able to get up there as often as I would like. So, Greg is now coming down here. He's not much a traveler. Never has been. He likes to go home to New Mexico. Hangs out with friends in the Bay area a few times a year - usually something to do with football. But, basically, once on the East Coast he pretty much stays put and doesn't venture far from the Village. Coming down to DC just isn't appealing. Especially, since my apartment is about 1/20 the size of his flat and the deli's suck here (his words but I have to agree with him).
We had a nice lazy day on Saturday taking in some local sites and going for a nice walk along the Potomac. Then Sunday, we went to the Columbia Pike Blues Festival. 90+ degree weather, but we had a nice time. Smartly, West Hollywood moved the festival to Walter Reed Dr. in the shadow of two large buildings. That made it much more tolerable. We arrived around 2pm and were able to join a group of friends that had staked out a nice piece of lawn under a shade tree where we ate some okay bbq and drank our weight in water.
I have no idea who was playing, but the last band up was amazing. The bass player really was having a good time and it translated into a great performance. The lead guitarist on his Stratocaster would have made and Excello artist proud.

Weho? You mean Arlington. And yes, DC deli's do suck (as well as your supermarkets).
